Blacklining (also known as “redlining”) allows you to compare changes between the latest version and the prior period’s version of a company’s SEC filings (proxy documents, 10Ks and 10Qs).

To view a blackline, enter the name or ticker of any company in the Ticker/Companies search bar.

Then, to search specifically for SEC filings, go to the Sources drop-down menu, click on Only next to US SEC Filings under the Company Docs section and hit Search.

Select any proxy document, 10K or 10Q in the Document List window. Click on the Show Blackline button in the upper right corner of the Document Viewer window.

Compared to the prior version:

  • Additions to the document will be shown in green.

  • Deletions will be shown in red.

  • Changes will be shown in blue.

Expert tip: Click on the blue Hide Blackline button to remove the blackline and return to the latest version of the document.
