Data-driven consultants around the globe are turning to AlphaSense to make better strategic recommendations and gain a competitive edge. This guide is designed to help you get started, teaching you how to unlock transcripts, run precise searches, and uncover the insights that matter most.

How it Works

The Expert Transcript Library in AlphaSense offers flexible access to transcripts using a convenient pay-as-you-go model, allowing you to acquire only the specific transcripts you need in a cost-effective manner. By working on a project-by-project basis, this model empowers you to tailor your access and expenses to your unique project requirements so you can bill these costs back to your client, resulting in improved efficiency and better budget management.

Accessing Transcripts

Unlock and access individual transcripts using unique project codes. Here's how:

  1. Log into AlphaSense and enter a unique “Project Code” tied to a specific client project (see above).

  2. View Expert Transcripts Library in a gated or locked format.

  3. Purchase and unlock the transcript, with a single click to gain full access.

  4. View and filter purchased documents under “My Content” to access and manage purchased transcripts associated with the entered project code.

  5. Easily switch between project codes to access client-specific content utilizing the “Switch Project” button located in the upper right corner of the interface - no need to logout.

Running a Search

In the AlphaSense Expert Transcripts Library, you build your searches with two search bars: the Keyword search bar on the left and the Company & Ticker search bar on the right. You use these independently or in tandem to find expert calls discussing particular organizations and topics.

  1. Keyword Search: Use this feature to find any call discussing a particular topic or theme.

  2. Company & Ticker Search: This search bar surfaces any expert calls discussing particular organizations.

  3. Filtering and Sorting Your Results: Narrow down exactly what you're searching for:

    1. Perspectives: Filter by individual expert perspectives, such as Distributors, Partners, Former Employees, and others.

    2. Industries: Narrow your search to calls tagged to specific industries.

    3. Countries: Filter by target markets or regions of particular interest.

    4. Market Caps: Specify primary companies with a specific range of market capitalization.

    5. My Content: View and filter your purchased transcripts. Here, you can easily access and manage documents associated with the specific project code you've entered.

Pro Tip: Screen for Private Companies with their company name in Keyword Search and adjusting the Market Cap filter to "Non-Publicly Traded".

To run a new search, select the "Clear All/Clear" button in the upper right-hand corner of your screen. This will reset all search bars and filters back to default, allowing you to start from scratch.

Sorting Your Results

After running a search, you'll see the list of relevant documents on the left-hand side. You can customize the order in which these documents are shown by toggling the Source Sort that works best for you:

  1. Relevancy Score (Score): Select the "Score" option to see documents that AlphaSense deems most relevant for you. This feature uses a multi-factor approach to prioritize and display transcripts most relevant to you.

  2. Date: To view the most recent documents, choose the "Date" option and select "Order by Newest". This places the most recent transcripts at the top of your list.

Previewing and Purchasing Transcripts

To preview a transcript, click on any search result listed in the left panel. This will open a preview of the expert call on the right side of the screen, displaying the call title, summary, as well as the expert's bio and employment history. If the preview piques your interest, you can proceed to purchase the full transcript.

To purchase, simply click on the green 'Purchase Transcript' button visible in the preview. Once clicked, the full transcript is immediately unlocked for your review. This includes the entire text and any accompanying audio.

For quick access to your purchased content, use our 'Purchased' filter. Just apply this filter, linked to your Project Code, to conveniently view all unlocked transcripts.

Reading a Call Transcript

On the right-hand side of the interface, you'll find the Transcript Preview:

  • Call Summary: Provides an overview of the primary discussion points and key takeaways.

  • Table of Contents: Instantly navigate to the most relevant sections of the transcript.

  • Expert Bio and Employment History: Learn more about the expert's background, qualifications, and professional history.

  • Audio Playback: Listen to the call in full, or select a specific timestamp within the transcript to instantly jump to that particular section of the discussion.

Utilizing the Keyword Hits & Insights Pane

The middle Keyword Hits pane does the heavy lifting for you!

  • You can quickly jump to individual mentions of your search within the call using the Keyword Hits feature.

  • The Insights Pane gives a broader view, displaying all mentions of critical KPIs and topics discussed in the transcript.

  • Additionally, you have the option to playback the audio of the call while reading through the transcript. This feature enables you to comprehend more content around your area of interest in less time.

Saved Searches & Alerts

Setting an Alert for a search enables you to receive curated updates, in real-time, directly in your inbox. Receive critical info before your clients by setting email alerts based on your search criteria.

  1. Create an alert cadence for any topic or company you need to stay on top of.

  2. Begin with a search on a relevant topic (for example, any mentions of generative AI).

  3. Save your search by selecting the Save Search button next to your search bars. You can now name your search and set up an alert for the search if desired.

Using Sentiment Analysis

Our platform also features a Sentiment overlay. This highlights the positive and negative inflection points in the conversation, helping you understand whether your topic of interest is being discussed positively or negatively.

Requesting 1:1 Calls with Experts

If you've found an interview with an expert who has the experience you need, you can request a 1:1 call with them right within Stream. Just click the "Talk to this Expert" button.

  • If you already have access to our Expert Call Services, you'll be prompted to fill out a form with your request details. Our content team will then connect you to that expert.
