Blacklining (also known as “redlining”) allows you to compare changes between the latest version and the prior period’s version of a company’s SEC filings (proxy documents, 10Ks and 10Qs).

To turn on Blacklining:

  1. Enter the name or ticker of any company in the Company & Ticker search bar.

  2. Search specifically for SEC filings, go to the Sources Shortcuts menu, click on Only next to US SEC Filings under the Company Docs section and hit Search.

  3. Select any proxy document, 10K or 10Q in the Document Results List on the right-hand side.

  4. Click on the Show Blackline button in the upper right corner of the Document Viewer window.

Compared to the prior version:

  • Additions to the document will be shown in green.

  • Deletions will be shown in red.

  • Changes will be shown in blue.

Expert tip: Click on the "Hide Blackline" button to remove the blackline and return to the latest version of the document.
