What is Blacklining?
Blacklining (also known as “redlining”) allows you to compare changes between the latest version and the prior period’s version of a company’s SEC filings (proxy documents, 10Ks and 10Qs).
How to Turn on Blacklining:
- Enter the name or ticker of any company in the Company & Ticker search bar.
- Search specifically for SEC filings, go to the Sources Shortcuts menu, click on Only next to US SEC Filings under the Company Docs section and hit Search.
- Select any proxy document, 10K or 10Q in the Document Results List on the left-hand side.
- Click on the Show Blackline button in the upper right corner of the Document Viewer window.
Compared to the Prior Version:
- Additions to the document will be shown in green.
- Deletions will be shown in red.
- Changes will be shown in blue.
Expert Tip: Click on the "Hide Blackline" button to remove the blackline and return to the latest version of the document.
