Bulk upload your documents and make them searchable
You can upload up to 10,000 documents at a time into AlphaSense and search them for insight.

Adding Content to AlphaSense
- Click the upload icon in the bottom left-hand sidebar.
- Next, the File Upload menu will appear.
- From here you can Choose Files or Select a Folder from your desktop.
NOTE: You can also drag and drop a folder directly into the upload window to upload it in one action. Selecting a folder or ZIP file uploads its entire contents, including nested subfolders, in a single action.
NOTE: You can also upload documents directly through the Integration Center.
Follow the sequential prompts for:
Attaching Files
- Click the "Upload" button on the left navigation pane.
- Select up to 10,000 files from your device. Ensure they are in supported formats: .txt, .html, .htm, .pdf, .doc, .docx, .ppt, .pptx, .xls, .xlsx, .msg, .eml, .csv, .xlsb, .xlsm, .one, .tsv, .ods.
- You can also select or drag in a folder or a ZIP file. ZIP files are automatically extracted during upload. Uploaded files appear as a flat list in AlphaSense. Folder hierarchy is not retained.
Adding Company Tags
- Enter the names or tickers of relevant companies in the COMPANY'S field.
Reviewing Sharing Options
- From the dropdown menu, choose the appropriate sharing settings for your documents. You can select between private and public access, or customize who can view the documents.
Uploading Files and Searching
- Press the Upload and Share button to start the upload process.
- Once uploaded, you can search for your documents under Research Sources > Uploads in the AlphaSense platform.
Upload Actions
Company Tickers and User Tags:
- Company Tickers: Users may specify company tickers which will be considered the primary ticker for the document. The system will auto-recognize primary tickers if not provided by the user.
- User Tags: Users are encouraged to add tags to their uploads for better categorization of the ingested content.
Items to Note
Max File Size:
- Individual File Limit: The maximum file size allowed is 100 MB per file.
- Upload Session Limit: There is no cumulative size limit for a batch as long as it does not exceed 10,000 documents per upload and each document is within the 100 MB individual file limit.
Supported File Types:
- AlphaSense supports a diverse array of file formats, including: .txt, .html, .htm, .pdf, .doc, .docx, .ppt, .pptx, .xls, .xlsx, .msg, .eml, .csv, .xlsb, .xlsm, .one, .tsv, and .ods.
Document Upload Limit:
- Number of Documents: Users can upload up to 10,000 documents in a single session.
- Attachment Limit: A maximum of 10 attachments is allowed for ingestion.
- Folder and ZIP upload is also available in the Integration Center, Generative Search, Generative Grid, and Workspaces, including Data Driven Workspaces. Document limits apply per surface: 5,000 documents in Generative Search and Workspaces, and 400 documents in Generative Grid.
Discoverability:
- Documents, including their attachments, become fully searchable within minutes, facilitating quick and efficient research.
Error Notifications:
- Users will receive email notifications for errors, such as when the file size exceeds limits, the number of documents surpasses 10,000, or unsupported file types are submitted. These notifications detail the unprocessed files to keep users informed about the status of their uploads.
Reconciling Your Uploads
AlphaSense integration reporting equips you with the tools for better understanding, management and optimization of your uploads. Click into Reports to get an audit of all uploads with the ability to download the report.
Delete an Uploaded Document
Currently, uploaded documents must be deleted individually. Bulk deletion is not yet available.
To delete a document you uploaded:
- Navigate to Document Search.
- Filter to Emails, Uploads & Clipboards or the relevant integration connector, such as Google Drive.
- Select My Content to limit the results to content you uploaded.
- Select the document you want to delete from the results pane.
- In the Document Viewer, click the arrow in the upper-right corner to expand the header.
- Select the trash icon.
- Select Delete to confirm.
Note: Selecting My Content helps prevent you from viewing content uploaded by other members of your organization.
Searching Across Content
The documents you add are processed through our AI algorithms and are made available almost immediately in platform. AlphaSense’s AI will automatically tag your documents and you will be able to search across internal content and apply AlphaSense’s AI search & discovery tools to a discrete set of documents for project-based work.
To quickly search across all of your internal content:
- Navigate to the Quick Filters in the lefthand side bar.
- Scroll to Curation.
- Toggle on My Content.
Note: Another way to surface content you ingested into AlphaSense is to filter your Internal Content by Owners and select your name.
