Beta: The SuperAnalyst MCP connector is in beta. Your firm must have MCP access enabled before you can use it. Your AlphaSense account team can confirm.
Overview
The SuperAnalyst MCP (Model Context Protocol) connector brings AlphaSense into the AI tools you already use. Ask a question in your AI tool and get a cited answer from AlphaSense, with links back to the original sources.
The connector uses your own AlphaSense login and entitlements, so you see only the content you already have access to. You connect once, which takes about 30 seconds. Ask questions that draw on AlphaSense content, such as filings, earnings call transcripts, expert calls, news, and company materials. For example:
- Prepare for an earnings call: Summarize what a company said about a key topic on its most recent calls.
- Track a theme across experts: Find out what experts say about margin pressure in a specific sector.
- Compare across time: Follow up with "What about the prior quarter?" without repeating yourself.
- Keep research in one place: Combine AlphaSense answers with the other tools and files you already use in your AI tool.
Where It Works
The MCP works in Claude, Snowflake, and Amazon Quick. Support for more AI tools is coming soon.
Before You Begin
Make sure you have the following:
- An active AlphaSense subscription.
- MCP access enabled for your firm. Your AlphaSense account team can confirm.
- One of the supported AI tools listed above, with AlphaSense available in it. If you don't see AlphaSense, contact your AlphaSense account team or your organization's IT team.
- Your AlphaSense login credentials.
Getting Started
Once the connector is added by your Admin, it will appear in your organization's connector list.
Note: For organization-managed Claude accounts, an authorized owner or connector manager must add AlphaSense before members can connect their individual accounts.
Follow the steps below to connect your individual AlphaSense account:
Connect in Claude
- Open Customize → Connectors and find your AlphaSense connector.
- Click Connect and sign in to AlphaSense.
- Follow any authorization prompts.
- Return to Claude and confirm the connector shows as connected.
- In your conversation chats, open + → Connectors and enable AlphaSense.
What you're approving: The Authorize App screen asks for two things.
- Profile: Access to your AlphaSense profile and email.
- Offline access: Allows Claude to keep the connection active between sessions, so you don’t have to sign in each time. You may still be asked to reconnect when your authorization expires.
Connect in Codex
- In Codex, open Settings → MCP servers (or Plugins) →click Add server.
- For Name, enter AlphaSense.
- Select Streamable HTTP
- For URL, enter https://mcp.alpha-sense.com/mcp Leave the bearer token and header fields blank.
- Click Save. If AlphaSense doesn’t appear in the list, restart Codex and return to MCP servers.
- Click Authenticate next to AlphaSense. Codex opens AlphaSense sign-in in your browser.
- Sign in to AlphaSense and approve access, then return to Codex.
Connect in Microsoft 365 Copilot
- Open Copilot Cowork and go to Settings → Sources.
- Find AlphaSense and click Connect.
- Sign in with your AlphaSense credentials and approve access.
- Return to Copilot and confirm AlphaSense shows as connected.
- Start a new chat to begin using AlphaSense.
Connect in Snowflake
- In Snowflake CoWork, open the sources panel and select Capabilities → MCP Connectors.
- Next to AlphaSense, click Connect.
- Sign in with your AlphaSense account. You return to Snowflake with AlphaSense showing as Connected.
Connect in Amazon Quick
- Open a chat with an agent that has AlphaSense, such as My Assistant.
- The first time, sign in to AlphaSense when prompted and approve access.
Ask Your First Question
- Open a new chat in your AI tool.
- Confirm AlphaSense is switched on for the chat.
- Start your prompt with "Using AlphaSense," and ask your question.
Try this prompt: "Using AlphaSense, summarize Apple's latest earnings."
Tip: Start with “Using AlphaSense” to make your intended source clear. If you want an AlphaSense-only answer, explicitly ask the AI tool to use only AlphaSense sources and check which tools it uses.
How It Works
AlphaSense finds the relevant content, extracts the right context, and generates a cited answer, which your AI tool then works with. Your AI tool picks between two AlphaSense tools based on how you phrase your question.
The Two Search Tools
| Tool | When it runs | What you get back |
| alphasense_search | Questions that do not specify a content type, and questions about broker research or analyst views. | An answer drawn from your entitled content, plus a one-click link to an answer including broker research in AlphaSense. |
| alphasense_search_specific | Questions requesting specific content, such as filings, earnings transcripts, expert calls, or news. | An answer drawn only from the content you named. |
Tool permissions. In Claude, open Customize → Connectors, select your AlphaSense connector, and review Tool permissions. Depending on your organization’s settings, tools can be set to Always allow, Needs approval, or Blocked. If approval is required, Claude asks before running the tool.
Keep these points in mind:
- Cited answers: Answers include inline citations and a Sources list linking back to AlphaSense. Click through to review the supporting passages and validate important claims and numbers.
- Follow-ups keep context: A follow-up question such as "What about the prior quarter?" continues the same AlphaSense conversation.
- Your entitlements apply: Searches use your individual AlphaSense permissions. Broker research is the exception: it stays in AlphaSense and is accessed through a separate link when available.
- Source links need a session: To open a source link, you must be signed in to AlphaSense.
- Auto mode only: Think Longer and Deep Research are not available through the MCP today.
- No web search: Results come from AlphaSense content only.
Broker Research
Broker content stays on the AlphaSense platform. When a broker perspective exists for your question, the response includes a disclaimer and a link. One click opens the same question, already run, in AlphaSense with all sources, including broker research.
Prompting Best Practices
Direct AlphaSense explicitly: name the content types to search, define the companies and time frame, and say what output you want. Short prompts work, but the best answers come from prompts that cover six things.
- Role and task: Who you are and what the answer is for. Example: "I'm the CIO building next year's roadmap."
- Scope: The companies, peer set, sector, or theme. Example: "[list 5 to 8 peers]"
- Sources: Which AlphaSense content to draw on. Example: "earnings calls and expert calls"
- Time window: How far back to look, as explicit dates. Example: "published after July 1, 2026"
- Lens: What to look for and compare against. Example: "in production rather than pilot"
- Output: The shape you want back. Example: "a table, then the three strongest patterns"
Example Prompt
Original: "Using AlphaSense, check if our thesis on Snowflake is good.”
Improved: "Using AlphaSense, check and challenge our thesis on Snowflake (SNOW). Our view is that consumption growth reaccelerates next year because AI workloads drive new usage and pricing holds. Our internal assumptions are 25% product revenue growth and stable net revenue retention. Test each point against our internal notes on Snowflake, earnings calls, expert calls with former customers and competitors, and filings published after July 1, 2026. Flag the claims that don't hold up, the strongest counterevidence and the perspectives we're missing. Finish with a table showing each assumption, the evidence for and against, and a confidence rating."
Follow up with: "Which of our assumptions rely most on our internal notes, and does any external evidence contradict them?"
General Guidance
- Name AlphaSense: Start with "Using AlphaSense," to route your AI tool to the right source, especially when other connectors are enabled.
- Use explicit dates: Write "published after July 1, 2026" instead of "recent", and ask for the date of every source cited.
- Be specific: Ask for "only former executive expert transcripts", "only 10-K and 10-Q filings", or "expert calls, not earnings transcripts".
- Supply your own context: AlphaSense can't see files or notes you haven't uploaded or synced. Sync your internal content in AlphaSense so your firm's context is another source for the MCP.
- Protect quote fidelity: When you ask for expert perspectives, ask for verbatim quotes with the citation attached. Click through to confirm the passage in AlphaSense.
- Follow up to dig deeper: Try "Put that into a table with the source date in its own column", "Which findings rely on a single source?", or "Draft a one-page memo from this answer, keeping every AlphaSense citation intact."
- Ask one question per call: Break big requests into discrete, well-scoped steps.
- Keep one topic per chat: Follow-ups build on earlier answers, so keep related tasks in one thread. Start a new chat when you change topics.
Where AlphaSense Adds the Most Value
- Expert call transcripts: What former employees, customers, competitors, and practitioners say is happening. Ask: "Search expert calls with former procurement leads at..."
- Earnings calls and investor events: Guidance, management tone, analyst Q&A, and what changed quarter to quarter. Ask: "What did management say about pricing on the last two calls?"
- Company filings: Risk factor changes, segment detail, disclosure benchmarking, and executive changes in 8-Ks. Ask: "Compare the risk factors in the latest 10-K with last year's."
- News and press releases: Recent events, deals, incidents, and leadership moves. Ask: "Scan news from the past 30 days for..."
- Company materials: Investor day presentations, strategy, and product announcements. Ask: "Use the most recent investor day materials for..."
- Broker research: Sell-side views and analyst positioning, through a one-click link into AlphaSense. Ask: "What are brokers saying about..."
- Your documents: Any of your ingested and pre-indexed documents in AlphaSense. Ask: “Find emerging trends that may impact the drivers in my thesis for [company].”
Disconnect Your Account
To disconnect your account:
- Go to Settings → Connectors.

FAQs
AlphaSense isn't in my list of connectors. What should I do?
- AlphaSense may not be available in your AI tool yet. Contact your AlphaSense account team or your organization's IT team. If it was just added, log out and back in.
AlphaSense is listed but not working. Why?
- You probably need to connect it. Click Connect next to AlphaSense and sign in. This one-time step is the most common reason the connector looks empty. Also check that the connector is switched on for your current chat.
Why are my results thinner than I expected?
- Results match your AlphaSense entitlements. If you can't open something in AlphaSense, the MCP can't use it. To see broker research, follow the one-click link in the response.
Why don't my source links open?
Source links need an active AlphaSense session. Sign in to AlphaSense and try again.
Why am I asked to reconnect?
- MCP access expires after a period of inactivity. This behavior is not unique to the AlphaSense MCP. Sign in again to restore access.
Can I get broker research through the MCP?
- Broker research is not returned to your AI tool. When a broker perspective is available for your question, the response includes a link to view it in AlphaSense, subject to your entitlements.
Can I use Deep Research or other AlphaSense modes through the MCP?
- No. The MCP uses Auto mode only. To use other modes, open the conversation in AlphaSense using the link in the response.
Does the MCP search the web?
- No. Results come from AlphaSense content only.
Can I trust the numbers in an answer?
- Answers are built on AlphaSense Generative Search. Always click through to the citations to confirm numbers before you rely on them.
How are entitlements and data privacy handled?
- Retrieval is scoped to each user through an individual OAuth login. Responses contain only Generative Search outputs, and retained conversation content follows your firm's retention settings.
Will SuperAnalyst tools be available through the MCP?
- Yes. SuperAnalyst in the MCP is planned for later in Q4.
Who do I contact for help?
- Your AlphaSense account team can help with content access questions and prompts tailored to your workflows. For urgent technical issues, email support@alpha-sense.com. The Developer Portal covers the MCP overview, available tools, example prompts, limits, and troubleshooting.
