The Basics of Navigating & Searching

When logging into AlphaSense, you'll land on your Dashboard, which is used to monitor the latest company documents, broker research, and news surrounding the companies, industries, and topics you care about.

At the top of the screen you'll see two search bars.

  • A Keyword Search on the left: Use this search bar when you're wanting to extracting trends and themes from documents across multiple companies

  • A Company & Ticker Search on the right: Use this search bar when you're wanting to see all documents either by or about a company/multiple companies

You can use these search bars either independently or in tandem to build your searches.

Utilize AlphaSense's Source Filters to selectively search across large types of content (such as Company Docs or Broker Research) or search across a single content type (such as 10Ks, Earnings Calls, and Initiation Reports)

Sorting Your Results

After running a search, you'll see the list of relevant documents on the right-hand side. You can customize the order in which these documents are shown by toggling the Source Sort that works best for you:

  • Relevancy Score (Score)

    • If you'd like to see the documents AlphaSense identifies as most relevant to you, select the "Score" option. AlphaSense utilizes a multi-factor input to reorder the documents based on which documents are the ones most relevant to you.

  • Date

    • If you'd like to see the documents that were published most recently, select "Date" and choose the "Order by Newest" option. This will put the newest and latest documents at the top of the list.

    • If you'd like to see the oldest documents on file, select the "Order by Oldest" option.

  • Pages

    • If you'd like to see the longest documents first, select "Pages" and choose the "Order by Most Pages" option. This will put the documents with the most pages at the top of the list.

    • If you'd like to see the shortest documents first, select the "Order by Least Pages" option.

  • Companies

    • If you'd like to see the documents organized by companies alphabetically, select "Companies" and choose the "Order by A-Z" option. This will order the documents by Companies in alphabetical order.

    • If you'd like to see the companies in reverse, alphabetical order, select the "Order by Z-A" option.

  • Source

    • If you'd like to see the documents organized by content source alphabetically, select "Source" and choose the "Order by A-Z" option. This will order the documents by source type in alphabetical order.

    • If you'd like to see the source types in reverse, alphabetical order, select the "Order by Z-A" option.

  • Sentiment

    • If you'd like to see the documents ordered with the highest sentiment score on top, select "Sentiment" and choose the "Order by Highest Score" option. This will put the documents with the highest overall sentiment rating on top.

    • If you'd like to see the documents ordered with the lowest sentiment score on top, select "Sentiment" and choose the "Order by Lowest Score" option. This will put the documents with the lowest overall sentiment rating on top.

    • If you'd like to see the documents ordered with the largest sentiment score change (compared to the previous call) on top, select "Sentiment" and choose the "Order by Most Change" option. This will put the documents with the largest change in sentiment from the previous call on top.

    • If you'd like to see the documents ordered with the smallest sentiment score change (compared to the previous call) on top, select "Sentiment" and choose the "Order by Least Change" option. This will put the documents with the smallest change in sentiment from the previous call on top.
