How to Use Consensus Estimates Formula
Use this formula to return consensus estimates data when it is available. You can access consensus data for the following 5 metrics with this formula. Note, consensus data is subject to availability and not reported for all companies or metrics.
- Revenue
- EBIT/Operating Income
- EBITDA
- Net Income to Common Shareholders
- Diluted Earnings per Share
You can use the Formula Builder to build a Consensus Estimates formula. Select the Consensus Estimates formula using the toggle at the top of the screen and follow the instructions. There are more details for how to use the Formula Builder in the Formula Builder article.
Tegus consensus data is licensed through Visible Alpha and are not permitted for redistribution. You are not required to be a Visible Alpha customer to access this data from Tegus.

Formula Arguments
Ticker (Company)
Identify the company in a Tegus Formula using a ticker assigned to the company. Please use the Tegus Ticker Format when adding a ticker to a Tegus Formula. If you are unsure of the format, the company look-up in the Formula Builder provides a search feature that can be a helpful resource to find the ticker and confirm the company is in coverage.

Consensus Metric ID (Metric)
Identify the metric you would like to access consensus data for using our consensus estimate codes. You can access a metric in up to four accounting bases. The accounting basis is determined by Visible Alpha and defined by them as follows.

Period
You can use company-reported, relative, and calendar period formats in your Tegus Formulas. The Formula Builder can help you understand the available periods and make sure formatting is correct. You can only access data from forecast periods using the Consensus Estimates Formula, previous estimates are not provided at this time.
Optional Arguments
The following are not required to build a Consensus Estimates formula but may be included to refine the output.
Calculation (NTM)
The calculation option allows you to access next twelve months (NTM) data for certain metrics. NTM data will be calculated from the period you define in the period argument. To grab the most recent NTM, use “MRQ+1” as the period in your formula. You can use “NTM+1” to grab NTM data starting from 12 months in the future.
Not all metrics will have NTM available. It is subject to data availability and eligibility. NTM is calculated by Tegus based on individual period estimates and not directly provided as an aggregate NTM estimate.
Scale
Data returned via the Company Data Formula can be scaled by entering the factor you would like to scale it to as the fifth argument. Example:
