Overview and Login
The AlphaSense iOS brings lightning-fast search and on-the-go viewing at your fingertips. Once you've downloaded the app, login with the same credentials you use to access AlphaSense on your computer.

The iOS app carries over all of your saved searches, alerts, and watchlists previously created in the web browser for a seamless experience between platforms.

Searching, Filtering, and Viewing Documents
Using Gen Search iOS app
Use Gen Search to ask natural language questions across AlphaSense and internal content (Enterprise Intelligence only) by selecting the "sparkle icon" in the AlphaSense mobile app.
In the Gen Search query bar on iOS, you can filter by companies, watchlists, and industries, choose your document sources, and select a reasoning mode: Fast or Deep Research.
After asking a question to Gen Search, you'll see the question you asked (and its corresponding Research Plan), the content summarized with citations, a conclusion/summary, and related questions.
Search Modes in Generative Search (iOS)
AlphaSense GenSearch offers multiple modes to match the depth of your research needs. Use Fast for quick answers, Think Longer for more refined responses in 1–3 minutes, or Deep Research for comprehensive, long-form answers that may take 10+ minutes to generate.
Think Longer is now available as a selectable reasoning mode in GenSearch for iOS (starting with AlphaSense version 4.80).
This mode helps you generate more comprehensive answers to complex questions—directly from your mobile device. It’s ideal for professionals who need deeper synthesis and broader context than quick answers provide, but don't require the full depth of Deep Research.
Viewing Documents in Gen Search
Use View to Explore Document Sources
To see the documents used in a Gen Search response, select View next to Document Search Results. This opens an interactive list of the raw documents used to generate the response. OR
Click any document in the list to jump directly to the snippet where the cited information appears.
Use Citations Within the Response
You can also click on individual citations directly within the AI-generated response. If a citation includes multiple snippets, you can toggle between them using the DocViewer.
To view previous Gen Search results, select the icon in the top lefthand corner. The conversation history will also indicate which GenSearch mode was used for each query.
Searching in the iOS app - Document Search
To start searching, select the "Search" icon in the bottom-left and either:
- Use only the Keyword Search to search for all documents pertaining to a topic or theme
- Use only the Company/Ticker Search to search for all documents either by or about a company. You can also search by any Watchlist you've already created
- Use both to search for all documents by or about a company pertaining to a topic or theme
Filtering in the iOS app
To begin filtering your results, you can use the Content Facets to filter by content types, or open the Sources Menu for a more granular breakdown by tapping "More Sources"
Viewing Documents in the iOS app
- After running a search, tap on a document to open it (1)
- While viewing the document, you'll see two important navigational elements on the right hand side (2).
- A circled number: This tells you how many mentions of your searched topic or theme are found in the document
- Two navigational arrows: These are used to jump to each mention of your searched topic or theme within the document
- Selecting the circled number, you can view each snippet of your query and tap on a selection to jump to that relevant portion of the document (3)
Annotation Tools for Note Taking & Collaboration
Find a key piece of information that you want to save for later or share with a colleague?
You can highlight, comment on, and share individual pieces of text right within the document viewer on your mobile device.
- Double-tap and drag to select text you’d like to annotate.
- Select “highlight”, “comment”, or “share” from the menu that populates.
- You can find all annotations for a given document by clicking on the circled number on the bottom left of the document viewer and toggling to “Annotations”
- Sharing a piece of text will create a custom AlphaSense link from which your recipient can access the entire document with your shared text, centered and highlighted.
You can also create, share, and edit your notes with all the same functionality you are used to on the web version within the Notebook+ section within the mobile app.

Turning on Notification Alerts in the mobile app
When first logging in, you'll be asked whether you'd like to enable Push Notifications. You can change to enable/disable these at any point by selecting the "Account" tab in the bottom right-hand corner and toggling "Push Notifications" on/off.
Bookmarking Documents and Downloading for Offline Viewing
You may want find documents that you're interested in reading, but don't have the time to currently read through them in detail. In this case, you can bookmark documents for future reference!
- To Bookmark any document, select the ellipses (...) in the upper right-hand corner (1)
- Select Bookmark (2)
- Tap the Bookmark icon in the bottom navigation menu (3) to full a complete list of your bookmarked content
NOTE: If you'd like to enable Automatic Downloading of your bookmarked documents, simply select the automatic download option in the upper right-hand corner of your screen (4) and select "Enable Downloads"
Offline Viewing on iPad
While viewing offline documents in AlphaSense on an iPad, you'll have the ability to utilize the PDF navigation bar to rotate pages and easily scroll through the document.
You'll also have the ability to:
- Search within the document for a word or phrase (note: this search is the iOS PDF search and not the AlphaSense search, thus you won't be able to leverage Smart Synonyms, Proximity Window, etc when using this search for offline documents)
- Markup documents with native iOS markup tools
- Share with others or to another device
Pro Tip: Swipe to the right on any document in the results list to add/remove it to your Bookmarks.
Share Research with your team wherever you are
Sharing with teammates who have access to AlphaSense
Send any document to a colleague with access to AlphaSense by tapping the share icon (outlined in yellow below) on a document in the results panel. Simply tap the ellipses (...) in the upper right-hand corner of a document and select "Share Document"
Pro Tip: You can also share the document from the results list by dragging to the left.
You can also share a specific piece of text from a document. Double-tap and drag to select text, and then choose “Share” from the menu that appears. When a recipient opens the shared link, the document will populate with your specified text highlighted and centered.
Sharing with teammates who do not have access to AlphaSense
- If your colleague doesn't currently have access to AlphaSense, there are several ways you can still share documents with them:
- Some document types can be viewed without needing an AlphaSense account. Take look at what content types are fully available here.
- You can download the document as a PDF and share it with your contacts
