Syncing Your Account
To Get Started:
- Go to the Integration Center from the bottom left.
- Select Egnyte from the list.
Connecting Your Account(Step 3):

Click the "Connect Egnyte" button. The Setup Wizard will walk you through the connection. You'll be able to create:
Individual Connection, which is best for personal use and provides flexibility and independent management of your integration. All content uploaded will be private to you by default, but you can manually share documents within AlphaSense.
Workspace Connection, which is for Admins only(User Type: Administrator) to ingest data along with mirroring of permissions as on Egnyte into AlphaSense. All content ingested in this connection can be viewed by people who have access to the content on Egnyte and are present in AlphaSense.
Note: Egnyte allows Administrator to view Private Folders of all the members of the domain. But does not allow to change permissions on that since they are private. So if Administrator syncs from a private folder in AlphaSense, you can’t update the sharing.(Click your Initials on the top right corner of Egnyte account to check your user type.)
- Then follow the prompt to enter your Egnyte credentials and Grant Access to sync between Egnyte and AlphaSense.
- Enter your domain.
The above is the same domain name which you add while signing in at Egnyte.
- Adding domain will take you to the login screen. Login here to connect Egnyte account to AlphaSense.
Upload Actions
Metadata Customization
- Users can add or remove Tags & Tickers as metadata at the folder level during the ingestion process, offering flexibility in how content is categorized and retrieved.
Folder Synchronization
- Users can synchronize entire folders, including all contained documents. Synchronization is exclusively folder-based, with direct file selection not available.
Items to Note
Automated Sync for Existing Folders
- Folders and sites that have been synced will automatically undergo periodic synchronization to ensure the content remains current.
Manual Addition for New Folders
- To synchronize new folders and sites from Egnyte, users must manually add them, initiating the synchronization process.
Synchronization Frequency
- Automatic synchronization occurs every 15 minutes, facilitating timely updates to your content.
File Size Limitation
- There is a maximum size limit of 100 MB for individual files, ensuring efficient data management and transfer.
Supported File Types
- Egnyte integration supports specific document extensions, including .pdf, .html, .htm, .txt, .doc, .docx, .xls, .xlsx, .ppt, .pptx, .msg, .eml, .csv, .xlsb, .xlsm, .one, .tsv, and .ods, catering to a broad range of content types.
Account Sync Exclusivity
- To ensure data integrity, each Egnyte account can be synchronized with only one AlphaSense account at a time, prohibiting simultaneous user connections. These requirements are designed to optimize the integration process between Egnyte and AlphaSense, enhancing document management, content accessibility, and collaboration capabilities within the platform.
Monitoring Added Documents
AlphaSense integration monitoring tracks the progress and details of integrations in real time to ensure everything is on course for optimal ingestion. Click into Monitoring to get a central view of documents details and status.
Reconciling Added Documents
AlphaSense integration reporting equips you with the tools for better understanding, management, and optimization of your uploads. Click on Reports to get an audit of all content added with the ability to download the report.
Managing Added Documents
AlphaSense integration configuration page allows for the management of user permissions, folder hierarchies, and labeling. Click on Configuration to make any necessary changes.
Searching Across Content
The documents you add are processed through our AI algorithms and are made available almost immediately in platform. AlphaSense’s AI will automatically tag your documents and you will be able to search across internal content and apply AlphaSense’s AI search & discovery tools to a discrete set of documents for project-based work.
To quickly search across all of your internal content:
- Click the Company Integrations dropdown in the vertical filters
- Hover over Egnyte, then click Only

FAQ and Troubleshooting
Q: How often does Egnyte content sync?
A: Synced folders automatically refresh every 15 minutes to keep content current.
Q: Will newly created Egnyte folders sync automatically?
A: No. New folders must be manually added in the Egnyte connector configuration before they can sync. If newly added folder/file falls under synced folder then it will be synced automatically.
Q: What permissions are required to sync Egnyte content?
A: For an Individual Connection, you need Viewer or higher access to every folder you select. For a Workspace Connection, users need Viewer or higher access to the Egnyte folder, either directly or through an Egnyte group.
Q: Are Egnyte groups resolved during permission mirroring in Workspace Connection?
A: Yes, each group’s members are fetched and ingested content is shared with them in AlphaSense.
Q: What permissions are required to view Egnyte content in AlphaSense?
A: For an Individual Connection, synced content is private by default and must be shared manually in AlphaSense. For a Workspace Connection, users with Viewer or higher access to the Egnyte folder can view the content in AlphaSense. Egnyte permissions cannot be overridden in AlphaSense.
Q: I connected successfully, but my colleague can't see the content. Why?
A: For an Individual Connection, content is private unless you share it in AlphaSense. For a Workspace Connection, your colleague must have Viewer or higher access to the content in Egnyte.
Q: Can I select individual files instead of folders?
A: No. Sync is folder-based only. To include loose files, select Files Not in Folder from the folder listing.
