Bring your Slack conversations into AlphaSense, and manage the connection from inside Slack.
Requires an AlphaSense Enterprise subscription. Searching your Slack content also needs a Slack Business+ or Enterprise Grid plan. Already a customer? Sign in to AlphaSense and go to Integrations → Slack.
Why Slack + AlphaSense?
The answer to a research question is often already in Slack — in a thread from three months ago that nobody can find. The research that would confirm it sits in AlphaSense. The two never meet.
This integration closes that gap in both directions. Your Slack conversations become searchable inside AlphaSense alongside everything else, and you can manage the connection from inside Slack without switching tools.
Ways to use the integration
- Search your Slack messages from AlphaSense — channels, threads and files, answered alongside filings and research, with links back to the original message. Setting this side up is covered in Connecting Slack to AlphaSense.
-
Connect your account from Slack with
/alphasense connect. -
Check your connectors are healthy with
/alphasense status. -
See how much content is indexed with
/alphasense monitoring. -
Unlink whenever you want with
/alphasense disconnect. -
Get the list any time with
/alphasense help.
AlphaSense connects using your own Slack account, so it only reaches conversations you can already see — never private channels you are not in, and never other people's direct messages. Each person connects individually.
Check your connectors without leaving Slack
/alphasense status lists every connector on your AlphaSense account and whether it is still working — so you find out that a connection has dropped in Slack, where you already are, rather than the next time a search comes back short.
See what has been indexed
/alphasense monitoring shows how much of your content AlphaSense holds for each connector: documents indexed, still processing, failed, skipped, and total size.
Every command, in one place
/alphasense help lists everything the app answers. It is also what you get if you mistype — so there is always a way back.
Every reply is private to you. The app never posts on its own, and never reads or replies to ordinary channel messages.
How to connect
1. An admin installs the app
One person with Slack admin rights installs AlphaSense for the workspace. Installing adds the app — it does not connect anyone's account.
2. Each person runs /alphasense connect
Type it in any channel or direct message. Only you see the reply.
3. Check the details, then confirm
The page names your own Slack account and workspace. Check it is you, then click Connect.
That check is deliberate: if someone else started the flow, you will see a name you do not recognise — click Deny.
4. You are connected
Run /alphasense status to confirm, and start searching your Slack content in AlphaSense.
Requirements
| Requirement | What you need |
|---|---|
| AlphaSense | An Enterprise subscription with integrations enabled |
| Slack — commands | Any plan. /alphasense works everywhere |
| Slack — search | Business+ or Enterprise Grid, which the Real-Time Search API requires |
Permissions and privacy
- AlphaSense uses your Slack account and can only see what you can already see.
- Each person connects individually. An admin installing the app connects nobody.
- We do not copy, crawl or index your Slack workspace. Messages are retrieved only at the moment you ask a question.
- The only thing AlphaSense writes into Slack is the private answer to your own command.

How AI is used
This applies to answers in AlphaSense — when you ask a question and it searches your Slack content. The /alphasense commands in Slack do not use AI: they read your connection status and report it back.
| Topic | Detail |
|---|---|
| Models | Enterprise-hosted large language models operated by Google Cloud Vertex AI, Amazon Bedrock, Microsoft Azure, Anthropic and Cerebras. Model selection may change as the service improves |
| Training | AlphaSense does not use your Slack data to train or fine-tune any AI model, and does not permit its providers to do so |
| Retention | Your question, the answer and the cited excerpts are retained for 10 days, then deleted automatically |
| Tenancy | Processed within your organisation's own AlphaSense tenant. Never shared with any other customer |
| Residency | AI processing is performed in the United States by AlphaSense's model providers under contract. This applies to all customers, including those in the EU |
AI-generated content may be inaccurate. Always verify against the cited source messages before relying on it for investment or business decisions.
Troubleshooting
Nothing comes back when I type /alphasense. The commands work on any Slack plan. If there is no reply at all, it is our side — email us.
It says I am not connected. Run /alphasense connect and follow the link.
The Connect link asks me to sign in. Sign in to AlphaSense in the same browser, then click Connect again in Slack.
My Slack messages do not show up in AlphaSense search. Search needs a Slack Business+ or Enterprise Grid plan. The commands above do not.
