This is the updated documentation for OneDrive. Check Common Info for other details.
Syncing Your Account
To Get Started:
- Go to the Integration Center from the bottom left corner.
- Select Microsoft OneDrive from the list.
Connecting Your Account:
- Click the "Connect OneDrive" button. The Setup Wizard will walk you through the connection. You'll be able to create:
- Individual Connection, which is best for personal use and provides flexibility and independent management of your integration. All content uploaded will be private to you by default, but you can manually share documents within AlphaSense.
- Shared Connection, which is for individuals to ingest data along with mirroring of permissions as on OneDrive into AlphaSense. All content ingested in this connection can be viewed by people who have access to the content on OneDrive and are present in AlphaSense.
- Currently we don’t support workspace connection in OneDrive.
- Then follow the prompt to enter your OneDrive credentials and Grant Access to sync between OneDrive and AlphaSense.
No Support for Shared Content
Due to restrictions from Microsoft, we can’t support shared content sync.
FAQ and Troubleshooting
Q: How often does OneDrive content sync?
- A: Synced folders automatically refresh every 15 minutes to keep content current.
Q: Will newly created OneDrive folders sync automatically?
- A: No. New folders must be manually added in the OneDrive connector configuration before they can sync. If a newly added folder/file falls under synced folder then it will be synced automatically.
Q: What permissions are required to sync OneDrive content?
- A: For an Individual Connection, you need Can view or higher access to every OneDrive folder you select. For a Shared Connection, users need Can view or higher access to the OneDrive folder, either directly or through a Microsoft 365 group.
Q: What permissions are required to view OneDrive content in AlphaSense?
- A: For an Individual Connection, synced content is private by default and must be shared manually in AlphaSense.
- For a Shared Connection, users with Can view or higher access to the OneDrive folder can view the content in AlphaSense. OneDrive permissions cannot be overridden in AlphaSense.
Q: I connected successfully, but my colleague can't see the content. Why?
- A: For an Individual Connection, content is private unless you share it in AlphaSense. For a Shared Connection, your colleague must have Can view or higher access to the content in OneDrive, either directly or through a Microsoft 365 group.
Q: What happens if OneDrive permissions change after content is synced?
- A: For a Shared Connection, AlphaSense mirrors OneDrive permissions for synced content. File and folder changes are picked up during regular sync, but permission-only changes would not appear if the file or folder itself has not changed. Incremental permission updates are not reflected in synced items, as of now.
Q: I am not able to see request admin consent button on the login screen.
- A: Requesting admin consent for login is not enabled for the user’s tenant. In this case follow these steps: https://docs.google.com/document/d/15NEOZQzXLq78GKn2vJfXXk_twWmhCRmkuq5mvQiGB4s/edit?tab=t.0 and then request for admin consent.
Q: How admin approves consent?
- Once the admin consent workflow is configured and an end user or service account has raised a request from the AlphaSense connection flow, an approving Entra admin completes the following steps. The request remains pending until an approver acts on it; until then, the AlphaSense connection cannot complete.
Step 1. Navigate to Enterprise Apps in the Entra admin center.
- Sign in to https://entra.microsoft.com as a configured reviewer and open the Enterprise apps blade.
Step 2. Open Admin Consent Requests and select the AlphaSense-OneDrive entry.
- In Enterprise apps, choose Admin consent requests from the left rail. Locate the row for AlphaSense-OneDrive(screenshot is for reference only) in the My Pending list and click it.
Step 3. Click "Review permissions and consent."
- From the request details pane on the right, click Review permissions and consent to open the Microsoft Permissions requested screen(screenshot is for reference only).
Step 4. Review the listed permissions and click Accept.
- Carefully review the scopes the application is requesting (these match the scope profile chosen at connection time). If the scopes are correct for your security posture, click Accept. The request will close and the AlphaSense connection workflow will be able to complete.
Q: Removing permissions for the app
Step 1: Go to Alphasense-OneDrive app from the Enterprise apps menu.
Step 2: Revoke the relevant permission
