Bring your internal knowledge into AlphaSense by connecting your Notion workspace
- Before You Begin
- Step 1: Installation (Workspace Owner Only)
- Step 2: Individual User Connection
- Step 3: Modify Workspace Access
- How It Works
- Troubleshooting
The Notion integration allows you to securely connect your workspace to AlphaSense, enabling you to search, analyze, and reference internal content alongside external sources. This integration is designed with access control in mind, requiring a one-time setup by a workspace owner, followed by individual user authentication.
Once connected, users can manage which Notion pages are accessible and update permissions at any time.
Before You Begin
- You must have access to a Notion workspace.
- A workspace owner must complete the initial installation.
- Users will only see and connect to pages they have permission to access in Notion.
Step 1: Installation (Workspace Owner Only)
The workspace owner must initiate the integration by starting the authentication flow within AlphaSense.
During setup:
- Only Notion pages the workspace owner has full access to will appear for selection.
- The selected pages determine what content can be accessed in AlphaSense.
After successfully completing the authentication process, AlphaSense will appear in Notion under:
Settings → Connections
Important:
If the workspace owner has not installed the integration, other users (including members and membership admins) will not be able to connect Notion from AlphaSense.
Users attempting to connect before installation will see an error screen.
Step 2: Individual User Connection
Once the workspace owner has completed the installation:
- Individual users can initiate their own authentication flow from AlphaSense.
- Users can connect their Notion workspace(s).
- Access is limited to pages they have permission to view in Notion.
This step ensures each user securely connects their account while maintaining proper access controls.
Step 3: Modify Workspace Access
Users can update which Notion pages are accessible at any time.
To modify access:
- Go to Settings → Connections in Notion.
- Locate the AlphaSense connection.
- Click the three dots (⋯) on the right-hand side.
- Select Page access.
- Add or remove pages as needed.
Changes will update what content is available within AlphaSense.
How It Works
- Notion content is securely connected and permissioned based on user access.
- Only selected pages are made available for use in AlphaSense.
- Each user’s connection respects their individual Notion permissions.
This ensures that sensitive information remains controlled while still enabling powerful cross-source research.
