Create dedicated research spaces to curate documents and analyze them in seconds
What are Workspaces?
Workspaces are dedicated environments where you can curate, upload, organize, and analyze a specific set of documents using AlphaSense’s AI capabilities. You can define your document universe by selecting targeted content or by searching across 500M+ documents and the open web for broader insights.
Workspaces give you a single place to return to for deep or ongoing analysis so you can build on previous research without recreating searches each time.
Key Features:
- Knowledge Curation: Add documents, uploads, or data sources to build a tailored set of research materials for your project.
- Integrated AI Tools: Use Generative Search to chat directly with your curated document set for fast, tailored insights, and use Generative Grid to interrogate each document with guided prompts that summarize and extract key findings.
- Organization & Recall: Save your Workspace to preserve outputs, return anytime to continue your analysis, and easily add new documents as your research grows.

Interacting with Workspaces
Once your Workspace is created, you can analyze your documents in two primary ways:
Analyze with Generative Grid
Interrogate each document using guided prompts that summarize, extract insights, or answer specific research questions.
Analyze with Generative Search
Ask natural-language questions across your selected documents using fast mode or think-longer mode to search, summarize, or reason.
FAQs
How do I access previously created Workspaces?
- Your previously created Workspaces appear in your Generative Search history. Select any Workspace to pick up your research where you left off.
Can I add unlimited documents to a Workspace?
- Yes. Workspaces can now contain an unlimited number of documents.
Is there a limit to how many documents I can include in Chat?
- No. Chat is now also unlimited, meaning you can select as many documents or pages as you want to chat and interact with.
Are Grids still limited in size?
- Grids are still limited to 400 documents, but you can now have multiple grids in the same workspace. This allows you the ability to have grids with different sets of prompts relevant to the subset of documents added.
How do I add or remove documents from a Grid?
- Grids will no longer be loaded with all documents by default. You can add and remove documents to your grids by selecting or deselecting documents from the Sources panel. You can also add documents to the grid using the Add button; adding documents directly to the grid also adds them to the workspace.
Do Workspace Grids and Searches sync with Generative Search or Generative Grid outside the Workspace?
- No. Grids and Searches created within a Workspace are scoped only to that Workspace. They do not cross-populate or sync with Gen Search or Gen Grid outside the Workspace environment.
Are Workflow Agents and Workspaces connected?
- Yes. When you launch a Workflow Agent from the Generative Search homepage, any agent that uses a Generative Grid will automatically create a Workspace. The documents referenced by the agent are pulled directly into that Workspace, allowing you to continue your analysis seamlessly.
